Since the introduction of lasers in the dental field in 1995, it has become a great adjunct in its applications to some of the everyday procedures we perform. The use of a laser is often reserved for use with soft tissues (gums). The laser minimizes bleeding and inflammation in the sites it is applied to when used in procedures to shape the gums. This means much less healing time and postoperative pain when compared to having the same procedure done with a traditional scalpel.
Dental Lasers and Cold Sores
Lasers can also be applied to cold sores to stop its progression immediately, decrease the pain associated with it, and start the healing process that day! If you suffer from cold sores and feel one starting to form, contact us at Mission Park Dental and we will do our best to schedule you a prompt appointment.
